Singing Winds Farm Preserves Legacy of America’s First Horse Breed, the Morgan Horse

Singing Winds Farm in Tigerton is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Morgan horse, America’s first horse breed, known for its strength, speed, and versatility dating back to the 1700s. Operations Manager Kevin Griepentrog carefully breeds each horse to maintain traditional Morgan traits and unique coat colors, adhering to standards set by the American Morgan Horse Association. The farm operates year-round, raising 18 horses currently and planning to breed more, with a focus on early socialization and later training for shows and sales.

The farm’s commitment extends beyond breeding, as Griepentrog personally ensures each horse goes to a suitable home, reflecting the deep care he and Assistant Manager Lisa Redfern have for the animals. Originally started by Dick and Sharon Crane in 1984, Singing Winds Farm transitioned from a retirement hobby to a full-time operation under Griepentrog’s leadership. The Cranes remain passionate about Morgans, emphasizing that once you have them “in your blood,” you never let them go.
