Highly trained rescue teams from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, including the urban search and rescue team and specialist water officers, responded to assist a wandering Shire horse in distress. Following a call from the horse’s owner, the animal was sedated by a vet to ensure a safe rescue.
With the owner’s help using a telehandler to create a path, the crews successfully slid the horse out of the water. After being checked over by the vet, the horse was safely returned to the care of her owner.
