Brookhaven Animal Rescue League (BARL), in partnership with the national nonprofit Petco Love, is inviting adopters to share their heartfelt stories about how their adopted pets have transformed their lives. The annual Petco Love Stories campaign, which opened submissions on August 11 and runs through September 29, 2025, encourages adopters to submit written stories or social media videos highlighting the special bond they share with their shelter pets. Each entry from BARL adopters not only celebrates these life-changing connections but also offers a chance to win up to $100,000 in lifesaving funding for the organization.

Since 2013, Petco Love has awarded $8 million to animal welfare groups nationwide based on these inspiring adoption stories, helping more pets find loving homes. BARL President Rusty Adcock and Petco Love President Susanne Kogut emphasize the campaign’s role in showcasing the profound impact adopted pets have on their families and in promoting adoption. BARL encourages all past adopters to participate and share their stories to inspire others and support ongoing lifesaving efforts through adoption.
