The Second Chance Ranch in South Fork, founded by Amanda Hurley and her husband in 2022, is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abused, abandoned, and wild horses, including Mustangs from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wild Horse and Burro Program. The ranch focuses on nurturing the physical and emotional well-being of these horses, training them for successful adoption, and matching them with suitable owners to ensure lasting, loving homes. Hurley emphasizes the therapeutic and soulful connection between horses and humans, highlighting the healing power these animals bring to people’s lives.
As the ranch works toward obtaining non-profit status, it relies on community support and donations to sustain its mission. Their recent fundraiser raised $1,900 to support ongoing care and rehabilitation efforts. Second Chance Ranch aims not only to save horses but also to promote responsible horse ownership and raise awareness about equine abuse and neglect, striving to create a compassionate community where every horse can live with love, respect, and purpose.
