The Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center (CTRC) is seeking community support after a St. Vrain Valley School District bus, avoiding a three-car crash on Colo. 52, veered onto its property Monday evening, damaging fences, a utility pole, the front gate, and signage. Fortunately, no clients, staff, volunteers, or horses were injured, though the incident left many shaken. The center estimates repair costs around $20,000 and is directing some funds from its ongoing “Paint the Pony” fundraising campaign toward these damages.
Despite the destruction and temporary power loss affecting the horses’ water supply, CTRC continued its equine-assisted therapy programs, emphasizing the miraculous nature of no injuries occurring. Executive Director Michele Bruhn highlighted the recurring safety concerns on Colo. 52, where the center is located, underscoring the need for attention to this dangerous stretch of road to prevent future incidents.
