Sanne Thijssen Wins First FEI World Cup Qualifier in Oslo, Making History as First Female Winner in a Decade

The 2025/2026 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Western European League season kicked off in Oslo with a strong showing from the Dutch Thijssen family, featuring four members in the competition. Sanne Thijssen, 26, emerged victorious riding Cupcake Z, securing her first FEI World Cup qualifier win and becoming the first female winner in Oslo in a decade. Despite limited previous clear rounds at the top level, Thijssen and her 12-year-old Zangersheide mare delivered a flawless performance on a challenging indoor course, setting the fastest jump-off time of 38.28 seconds.

Sanne’s strategic riding, particularly on a difficult double and plank combination, set a new standard that others followed, with 11 riders advancing to the second round. Her family members also competed, though only she managed a double-clear round. Thijssen, who has prior Grand Prix wins with another horse, Con Quidam Rb, expressed excitement about finally having a strong indoor partner in Cupcake Z, marking a new chapter in her career. The podium was rounded out by Brazil’s Yuri Mansur in second and Norway’s Johan-Sebastian Gulliksen in third.
