A drone light show featuring 500 small drones will take place over San Francisco’s waterfront Saturday night as part of the Chinese New Year Parade celebrations. Organized by Pixis Drones and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of San Francisco, the eight-minute show will highlight the Year of the Horse with imagery important to Chinese culture, including horses, dragons, drums, and a preview of next year’s zodiac animal. This event is a rescheduled version of last year’s canceled show, which was called off due to technical difficulties.
Drone light shows have become increasingly popular in China, where cities like Shenzhen have set multiple world records for the largest displays, including a recent show with 16,000 drones combining fireworks. These large-scale spectacles are now inspiring similar events worldwide, such as the one in San Francisco, blending modern technology with traditional cultural celebrations.
