San Antonio professional horse rider and UTSA psychology graduate Chloe Pfude has launched the Healing with Horses Therapy program, designed to support mental health through equine-assisted therapy. Inspired by her own mental health challenges and love for horses, Pfude offers a $50, hour-long course tailored for all skill levels, focusing on building communication skills and confidence. The program helps participants manage anxiety and stress by applying lessons learned with horses to everyday life, with positive feedback highlighting the calming effect of the horses.
Pfude works primarily one-on-one with clients using two horses, Sydney—a sensitive “heart horse” attuned to emotional distress—and Tadpole, a gentle thoroughbred for more advanced riders. While group sessions are available, Pfude emphasizes personalized attention to maximize therapeutic benefits. The program serves riders in San Antonio, Boerne, and the Hill Country, reflecting Pfude’s strong belief in the importance of equine-assisted therapy for mental health.
