Australian eventer Sammi Birch triumphed at the Aspen Cooling Osberton International Horse Trials, winning the CCI2*-L with her nine-year-old gelding Parkfield Pumpkin. Leading from the start, they achieved an impressive dressage score of 25.6 and completed both cross country and showjumping phases without penalties, finishing on their dressage score to top a competitive field of 82 combinations.
The competition was closely contested, with less than two points separating the top three riders. Olympian Oliver Townend and Thunder Bird Z secured second place with a score of 26.3, while Emily King and HG Woods took third on 26.7. Sammi also had strong showings with her other horses, MBF Quidams Touch and Hamilton Cooley, finishing 19th and 31st respectively.
