Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) has appointed Australian rider Sam Griffiths as its new High Performance Eventing Manager, ahead of the FEI World Championships in Aachen and the 2028 LA Olympic Games. Griffiths is an accomplished competitor, having placed fourth individually and won a team bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics with his mare Paulank Brockagh, alongside notable victories such as the 2014 Badminton Horse Trials and participation in the 2012 London Olympics.
Beyond his competitive achievements, Griffiths brings extensive high-performance leadership experience, having played key roles in talent development, championship preparation, and performance system management. He contributed significantly to the redesign of New Zealand’s High Performance Eventing program, served as Head Coach for their team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and acted as Chef d’Equipe at multiple international events, making him well-equipped to lead Ireland’s eventing program to future success.
