Starting December 14th, up to eight freight trains will run on Sundays through Metheringham, Lincolnshire, where previously no Sunday services operated. This change affects horse riders, walkers, cyclists, and motorists who use the Martin Road level crossing, which requires users to seek permission before crossing due to poor visibility.
Network Rail advises all users to stay alert, follow warning signs, lights, and alarms, and avoid distractions such as phones and headphones. Adam Warner, the level crossing manager, emphasizes the importance of using the phone in the yellow cabinet at Martin Road to ensure safety for everyone crossing.
