The Rustic C Ranch Rescue, a nonprofit based in Troup, Texas, held a fundraising event at the Tractor Supply Co in south Tyler to support their work rescuing neglected horses. Their mission focuses on saving horses from auctions and kill pens that would otherwise send them to slaughter, often in Mexico. At the event, they showcased some of their rescued animals, including a horse named Piper dressed as a unicorn for children to ride and take photos with, aiming to raise awareness and highlight the value of rescue animals.
The fundraiser was intended to help finance a new quarantine barn for the rescued horses. Founder Chrystal McHenry emphasized the importance of educating the public that rescued horses are not worthless and deserve care and compassion.
