The RSPCA has highlighted some of its most unusual and dramatic animal rescues from 2025, showcasing a variety of wildlife and pets caught in extraordinary situations. Notable rescues include a kitten trapped in a sewage treatment plant in Birmingham, a fox wedged in garden furniture in London, and a puffin blown 110 miles inland from the Welsh coast. Other incidents involved animals entangled in nets, trapped in vehicles, or stuck in precarious locations such as a swan caught in ice and an owl fallen into a slurry pit. The charity’s teams often faced challenging conditions to save these animals, many of which required medical care and rehabilitation before being released or rehomed.
Throughout the year, the RSPCA received over 634,000 reports of trapped or mistreated animals, marking one of its busiest years. Rescues ranged from domestic pets like dogs and cats to wild creatures including seals, badgers, and birds of prey. The charity also reunited a stolen dog with its owners after eight years and helped an emaciated lurcher recover. RSPCA superintendent Simon Osborne emphasized the dedication of rescue teams who daily save and rehabilitate animals with remarkable stories of survival and recovery.
