The RSPCA has highlighted some of the most unusual and challenging animal rescues of 2025, featuring cases such as a kitten trapped in a sewage treatment works in Birmingham, a fox wedged in garden furniture in London, and a puffin blown 110 miles inland from the Welsh coast. Other notable rescues included animals caught in nets, glue traps, and precarious situations like a swan trapped in ice and an owl fallen into a slurry pit. Many of these animals were successfully rehabilitated and returned to the wild or found new homes, showcasing the dedication of RSPCA teams.
Throughout the year, the charity handled 634,000 reports of trapped or mistreated animals, marking one of its busiest years. Rescues ranged from domestic pets like dogs stolen and later reunited with their families, to wildlife such as seals released back into the ocean. RSPCA superintendent Simon Osborne emphasized the daily commitment of rescue teams to saving animals with extraordinary stories of survival and recovery.
