In 2025, the RSPCA carried out numerous animal rescues, including freeing a gull trapped in a football net in Ramsgate and saving Albert, a horse stuck in mud in Edenbridge. The gull was found with a rope tightly wound around her wings but was safely released after recovery, while Albert required coordinated efforts from RSPCA rescuers, a vet, and firefighters to be lifted to safety and treated for hypothermia.
The RSPCA handled over 634,000 reports of animal welfare concerns last year, with a significant increase during the Christmas period. As winter approaches, the charity is preparing for a surge in cases and has launched an urgent appeal for funds to support its frontline officers. Superintendent Simon Osborne emphasized the importance of public support to continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need, urging animal lovers to contribute through initiatives like The Big Give Back to Animals.
