The RSPCA has launched an investigation after a horse was found dumped by the roadside in Walsall with its legs and neck bound by rope. The black and white horse was discovered on December 20, and inspectors believe it was transported to the location in a trailer or lorry before being dragged out and abandoned. Although the horse showed no visible injuries, it remains unclear whether it was alive or dead at the time it was left. The charity is seeking information about the horse’s ownership and the circumstances surrounding its disposal, which they describe as suspicious and distressing.

This incident highlights a broader issue of animal abandonment, which has surged by over 23% in 2024, with the RSPCA receiving reports of abandoned or dumped animals every nine minutes during its emergency line hours. The charity notes that the cost of properly disposing of dead horses often leads to them being discarded irresponsibly.
