Rose Loretta Brinks (1935–2025): Educator, Advocate, and Lifelong Catholic Remembered

Rose Loretta Brinks (1935–2025) was a dedicated educator, scientist, and lifelong Catholic known for her deep commitment to family, faith, and historic land preservation. Born in Nebraska, she earned advanced degrees in zoology and public health, taught across multiple states, and was active in civil rights and environmental causes. Rose and her husband’s farm in Laporte, Colorado, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, reflecting her passion for protecting historic land. She was also an avid pilot, traveler, and equestrian, with a rich life documented in extensive diaries and photographs.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and two husbands, including Alan Dean who died in a plane crash. She is survived by seven children, five stepchildren, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her legacy includes her activism, historical preservation efforts, and a strong family foundation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Fort Collins, with donations requested to St. Walburga Abbey in her memory.
