WSLS 10 News is partnering with the Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue (RVHR) in Hardy for their month-long Clear the Shelters adoption and donation campaign, highlighting that not only cats and dogs need homes but also horses and farm animals. Founded 23 years ago by Jason Muncy, RVHR provides a safe haven for abused, neglected, or unwanted horses, working closely with local animal control to rescue animals suffering from neglect or abuse. The rescue currently cares for 16 horses, many of whom have unique personalities and inspiring survival stories.

The campaign has already seen success, with recent adoptions helping RVHR make space for more animals in need. Muncy emphasizes that adoption is a serious commitment, as these animals become lifelong family members. The rescue’s mission is to replace neglect with care, offering hope and new beginnings for horses that might otherwise suffer or face slaughter. Through community support and awareness, RVHR continues to give these animals a second chance at life.
