The Netherlands’ Rixt van der Horst and her stallion Eisma’s Royal Fonq NOP secured their second individual gold of the week by winning the grade III freestyle at the European Para dressage Championships. Performing to a dramatic mash-up of Destiny’s Child’s “Survivor,” they impressed the judges with an 80.63% score, earning high marks for choreography and execution. Despite strong competition from Tobias Thorning Joergensen and Italy’s Francesca Salvade, Rixt and Fonq maintained their top position, with Rixt expressing pride in their achievement, especially on home soil.
Rixt reflected on the emotional significance of the music choice, symbolizing their journey through challenges and growth. She also praised the high level of competitiveness throughout the championships, highlighting the excitement that close contests bring to the sport. Looking ahead, Rixt aims to continue her success at the 2026 World Championships in Aachen.
