Richmond Equestrian Center Owner Charged with Sexual Assault of Minor Employee

Raymond Krussell, 52, owner of Krussell Stables in Richmond, faces multiple felony charges including criminal sexual assault of a minor, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, grooming, and distributing harmful material to a child. Authorities allege that Krussell engaged in a sexual relationship with a then-16-year-old employee over the course of a year, from January 2024 to February 2025, while serving as her employer. The charges also include sending nude webcam photos and sexually explicit text messages to the victim.

The victim had a long history with the stables, starting lessons at age 7 and later working there as a teenager. Reports indicate that Krussell assaulted the victim approximately 100 times, including an incident where she initially rejected his advances before he returned and assaulted her. Krussell Stables, established in 2002, is a well-known equestrian training center offering lessons and camps for young riders. Krussell remains detained and is scheduled for a preliminary court hearing.
