A proposal to rezone and expand a 30-acre equestrian center near Marshdale, previously operated by Greenville University’s Evergreen Riding Institute, has been withdrawn. The property, listed for $2.25 million and currently under contract, was intended to be rezoned from agricultural to commercial to allow the development of a public riding school.

Local residents opposed the rezoning, expressing concerns that it could lead to undesirable future developments in the area. Their organized opposition, including a dedicated website and social media campaigns, generated significant public comment against the proposal, influencing the county’s decision to halt the rezoning effort.
