All American Farm, located in Camden—an area renowned for its thoroughbred horse culture and the Carolina Cup—is a unique sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating horses that don’t fit traditional equine ideals. Owned by veterans Alicia and Sam Allmond, the farm focuses on horses that have been neglected, discarded, or sent to kill pens, nursing them back to health and helping them regain trust in humans. Unlike the region’s typical racehorses, these rescued equines often lack the perfect physique or flashy appearance but are given a second chance at life.
One notable resident is Trooper, a 29-year-old retired military draft horse who served at Arlington National Cemetery carrying fallen service members’ caskets. Adopted by the Allmonds in 2022, Trooper is now battling cancer but remains a spirited leader on the farm. Alicia Allmond finds deep meaning in caring for Trooper, viewing him as a fellow service member and taking comfort in his legacy of service despite his health challenges.
