A horse became trapped in a bridge in Dorset, prompting a rescue operation that involved a crew and technical rescue team from Bridport and Weymouth. Initially, a platform was built for the horse to push itself free, but as the light faded, a farmer and telehandler were enlisted to help cut away part of the bridge to create a ramp. However, as they tried to position the horse’s legs, it reared up and became further trapped in a near-vertical position.
The rescue team eventually freed the horse by placing hay bales beneath it and cutting away the bridge, allowing the animal to fall the rest of the way through. The horse’s rider had raised the alarm at around 16:00 GMT, leading to the complex rescue operation. Despite the challenges faced during the rescue, the team was able to successfully free the horse from the bridge.
The horse was finally rescued after being trapped in a near-vertical position on the bridge. The team’s efforts to create a ramp and position the horse’s legs were met with difficulties, but they ultimately succeeded in freeing the animal by cutting away part of the bridge and using hay bales to support it. The horse was able to safely fall through the gap and escape from its precarious situation.
