Charlie’s Freedom, a rescue pony from Cork, has overcome a challenging start in life—found emaciated and worm-infested in a shed in Wexford—to compete successfully at the prestigious Dublin Horse Show and the Scone Palace International Horse Trials in Scotland. Rescued by Cobh Rescue Horses and adopted by 16-year-old Samantha Hickey and her family, Charlie’s transformation is a testament to their patience, love, and gradual training. Samantha, who bonded with Charlie from a young age, has nurtured him through gentle groundwork and exposure to new environments, enabling him to excel in competitive events through Pony Club and beyond.
