Harold “Duke” King Jr. of Water Mill passed away at the age of 74. He grew up in Seaford, New York, attending St. William the Abbot and later Chaminade High School. He learned to golf at Southward Ho Country Club and developed lifelong friendships with many from Bay Shore. After graduating from Chaminade, he went on to study at Villanova University and Harvard Business School.
King had a successful career on Wall Street, which allowed him to explore interests in horse racing and breeding. He settled in the Hamptons, where he owned properties for horse breeding, including Meadow View Farm in Water Mill and a property in Lexington, Kentucky. He had a passion for music, literature, theater, golf, and the beach, and enjoyed writing, having recently completed a novel titled “Barefoot Chess.”
In his later years, King lived in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, with his partner Suki, where he continued to write. He is survived by his siblings, nieces, nephews, former wife Lisbeth DeForest, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his son Lex (HTKIII) and his parents.
