Reining Chaos, a multi-county 4-H drill team from Crow Wing and Cass counties, is sending nine of its 12 members to compete in the Minnesota State 4-H Drill Competition on September 14 in Sauk Centre. The competition, held at the Stearns County Fairgrounds due to renovations at the state fairgrounds coliseum, features several divisions including Large Freestyle, Compulsory, Limited Freestyle, and Small Freestyle. Reining Chaos, last year’s Small Freestyle state champion, will compete in both Small and Limited Freestyle divisions with experienced riders and co-captains aiming to refine their choreography and timing.
The team recently showcased their routines at the Crow Wing County Fair and includes an exhibition team that fosters skill development across all ages. Practices are scheduled at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds leading up to the competition. Drill Team is a choreographed horseback event within the Minnesota 4-H Horse Project, judged on horsemanship, precision, and creativity. Interested participants can find more information through the Minnesota 4-H program website or local county extension offices.
