Redwings Trustee Completes 100km Lake District Ultra Challenge to Support Horse Sanctuary

Ian Scott, a 70-year-old trustee of Redwings Horse Sanctuary, completed a demanding 100km ultra-walking challenge across the Lake District to raise funds for the charity. Despite harsh weather conditions including heavy rain and strong winds, Ian finished 18th out of 38 participants in just over 22 hours. His efforts, supported by his wife and fellow supporters, aim to help Redwings continue its vital work caring for over 1,300 horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules annually, many rescued from neglect or abuse.

Redwings, founded in 1984, is the UK’s largest horse charity, providing sanctuary, rehabilitation, and rehoming services nationwide. The charity depends heavily on public donations and fundraising events like Ian’s ultra challenge to sustain its care facilities and educational programs promoting equine welfare. Ian’s fundraising page remains open, encouraging others to contribute or take on similar challenges to support the cause.
