Rare Horse Society of New Zealand to Showcase Endangered Breeds at EquiSouth in Mosgiel

Members of the Rare Horse Society of New Zealand will showcase up to a dozen rare horse breeds at the EquiSouth event in Mosgiel on November 1-2. The society, dedicated to preserving endangered horse breeds in New Zealand, will feature breeds such as Kaimanawa horses, Clydesdales, Norwegian fjord horses, and Haflinger ponies. Co-founder Liselle Silver emphasized the society’s goal to inspire enthusiasts through interactive demonstrations and close encounters with these unique horses, many of which attendees may be seeing for the first time.

The society has been active in several events across the country and plans more for early 2026. Their displays offer a relaxed environment for riders, breeders, and owners to showcase their horses while educating the public about rare breeds, including the endangered Clydesdale. EquiSouth itself is a two-day celebration of all things equine, featuring educational sessions, competitions, and shopping opportunities for horse lovers.
