Queensland’s renowned thoroughbred property Element Hill, birthplace of champions Golden Sixty and Typhoon Tracy, has been sold after over a year on the market. The new owner, who previously acquired the neighboring Allawah farm and is not from a racing background, plans to convert Element Hill into a boutique racehorse spelling facility. Long-time managers Mitch and Di Fraser will remain to run the spelling business, ensuring the farm stays connected to the horse industry despite no longer being used for breeding.
Element Hill and Allawah, located near Innisplain in South East Queensland, offer extensive equine infrastructure, water access, and quality pasture. The sale included the Hutchins’ custom-built residences and was part of their decision to divest from breeding to focus on other business interests, while continuing to race horses. The new owner’s entry into thoroughbred racing through this spelling farm presents opportunities for trainers seeking support from a fresh participant in the industry.
