The Pushkar Cattle Fair is currently bustling with activity, showcasing a significant increase in horses at the new sandy fairground. Breeders from Punjab, Haryana, and other states are participating, often staying in luxury tents with expensive cars parked outside. Among the notable animals is an 800-kg Murrah buffalo from Bikaner valued at ₹10 lakh, and a five-year-old horse named Badal, father to 285 foals and worth ₹11 crore, whose owner has no plans to sell him.
Another highlight is Shahbaaz, a prized horse from Punjab valued at ₹15 crore, with a breeding fee of ₹2 lakh and six show wins. The fair has attracted a total of 3,021 animals so far, including 2,102 horses and mares, surpassing the 917 camels present. The event draws both domestic and international tourists, enhancing the festive atmosphere of this renowned livestock gathering.
