The National Equestrian Championship-2025 (Tent Pegging) was inaugurated by DGP Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, at PAP Campus in Jalandhar. The championship features 15 teams from various state Police Forces, CAPFs, Army, Navy, and private clubs, with 125 horses and top riders participating. DGP Yadav expressed pride in Punjab Police’s role as hosts and extended best wishes to the Punjab Police’s equestrian team.
The championship will see participation from 15 to 20 international players and will serve as a selection ground for the Indian team for international competitions in 2025-26. DGP Yadav emphasized the importance of the championship in celebrating skill, discipline, and tradition. The event is open to the public and horse lovers, with no separate ticket required for entry.
The event is the third edition of the championship to be held at PAP Campus, with the organising committee headed by ADGP MF Farooqui as Chairman and DIG Inderbir Singh as Organising Secretary. DGP Yadav mentioned that the event aims to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and set new benchmarks in the tradition of horse riding. Additionally, Punjab Police will also be hosting the T-20 under the All India Police Games and other contests like volleyball and kabaddi.
