Promoting and Conserving Rare Native Livestock and Equine Breeds in Scotland with RBST

Alice Lennox has been appointed as the RBST Scottish co-ordinator to promote and conserve the UK’s rare native livestock and equine breeds in Scotland. With a background in rare breeds, she has won awards for her work at Doonies Rare Breeds Farm and has volunteered with RBST support groups in Scotland.

RBST engages with politicians and policymakers on key issues affecting rare and native breed keepers in Scotland, such as agricultural and environmental support schemes and land management policies. The role of RBST Scottish co-ordinator includes influencing policy decisions, working with stakeholders, managing events, supporting funding applications, and advising on conservation projects.

Alice Lennox is excited to work with farmers and smallholders in Scotland to maximize opportunities for marketing high-quality meat, wool, and conservation grazing services with rare breed animals. RBST chief executive Christopher Price is pleased to have Alice on board to support the promotion and conservation of rare native livestock and equine breeds in Scotland during a crucial year for rare breeds survival efforts.
