Princess Catharina-Amalia to Study Dutch Law and Train as Military Reservist After Horse Accident

Princess Catharina-Amalia, the 21-year-old heir to the Dutch throne and eldest daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, is continuing her education despite a recent horse-riding accident that required surgery for a broken arm. She is close to completing her bachelor’s degree in politics, psychology, law, and economics at the University of Amsterdam and plans to start another bachelor’s degree in Dutch law this fall. Additionally, she will train to become a military reservist at Defensity College, although her arm injury will delay her participation in some physical activities.

The Princess of Orange made her first public appearance after the accident on June 18, wearing her arm in a sling, and later joined her family for their annual summer photo call with her arm still bandaged. The palace emphasized that while she cannot immediately engage in all physical components of her military training, she will begin once she has recovered. Despite the setback, Amalia remains committed to her studies and future responsibilities, balancing her academic pursuits with her role in the royal family.
