Princess Catharina-Amalia, the first-in-line to the Dutch throne, is preparing for a significant transition as she plans to begin a bachelor’s degree in Dutch Law at the University of Amsterdam, following her near completion of a Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics degree. However, her recent surgery to repair a fractured upper arm sustained in a horse riding accident will delay her full participation in the Defensity College training program, a military reservist training she has been admitted to alongside her studies.
The Palace confirmed that while the princess will join the Defensity College program over the next two academic years, she must postpone the physical components until she recovers. Despite her injury, she has made public appearances, including attending a royal event with her father, King Willem-Alexander, though she is expected to refrain from horse riding until fully healed. The palace emphasized that her study time remains private, and the Defensity College aims to connect students with the armed forces through meaningful work during their education.
