Princess Catharina-Amalia, heir to the Dutch throne, recently made her first royal appearance since breaking her arm in a horse riding accident that required surgery and a hospital stay. At 21, she attended the presentation of the new standard to the Princess Catherine-Amalia Hussar Regiment alongside her father, King Willem-Alexander, supporting herself on him due to her injury. Despite her arm being in a sling, she participated actively and briefly removed the sling for a group photo, demonstrating her commitment to royal duties.
The accident led to adjustments in the royal family’s schedule, including postponing their annual summer photoshoot to June 30. Princess Amalia, who is studying politics, psychology, law, and economics at the University of Amsterdam, has previously undertaken solo engagements both in the Netherlands and abroad. Notably, she spent a year living discreetly in Spain due to security threats, before returning to the Netherlands in 2024. Her resilience and dedication continue to mark her role as the future queen.
