President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has approved a decree outlining key measures for the sustainable socio-economic development of the Navoiy Region in 2026. The plan targets growth rates of 7.9% in gross regional product, 7.8% in industrial production, 15.6% in market services, and 5.7% in agriculture. Priorities include reducing poverty and unemployment, increasing household incomes, and providing vocational training to 4,500 people. The decree emphasizes tourism development by renovating cultural sites and creating the “Ancient Karman” tourist complex, alongside improving living conditions and infrastructure in selected villages and mahallas.
The decree also supports entrepreneurship and infrastructure upgrades in poorer districts, including drilling artesian wells and enhancing power and irrigation systems. Additionally, it promotes camel and horse breeding with the import of new breeds for dairy and meat production, while identifying all small ruminants in households and enterprises. Overall, the measures aim to boost the region’s socio-economic potential, improve quality of life, and build a sustainable, competitive economy.
