Preserving Local Culture: Myrtle Beach Resident Opens Horse Barn and Event Venue

Joshua Clardy, a longtime Myrtle Beach resident, plans to open The Stables and Pack House by the end of 2025 on a 60-acre plot of land along S.C. 90. The Stables will feature a barn with 24 horse stalls for boarding, riding lessons, and veterinary care, while the Pack House will serve as an events venue for weddings, parties, and corporate retreats. The goal is to share the area’s history and culture with newcomers, as Clardy’s family has been in Horry County since the 1800s, with a strong farming background.

The Stables are expected to open in summer 2025, followed by The Pack House in the fall or winter. Clardy is currently working on clearing the land for construction and is excited to develop along S.C. 90, an area experiencing growth like other parts of Horry County. The tobacco barn design of the Pack House pays homage to the area’s history of tobacco farming, while the horse barn aims to introduce newcomers to the farm lifestyle.

Clardy, an ordained Baptist preacher, hopes to spread the culture of Horry County to new residents through The Stables and Pack House. He sees the project as an opportunity to share the farming heritage of the area, which has been somewhat lost due to recent growth. By offering horse activities, events, and a glimpse into the local history, Clardy aims to create a community spot that reflects the roots of Horry County.
