Blackberry, a 12-year-old pony on a farm in Baldrine, Isle of Man, slipped and fell upside down into a ditch, requiring sedation and a rescue operation. Firefighters, assisted by a local vet and a farmer who provided a telehandler, safely lifted Blackberry out of the ditch. The pony was calm throughout the process and is now in good spirits, back with her fellow horses.
The pony’s owner, Michelle Hargreaves, noted that this was an unprecedented incident on her land, attributing the accident to unusually fast-growing weeds caused by this year’s weather. Despite the fall, Blackberry remains healthy and unbothered, highlighting the successful teamwork between the vet, fire service, and local farmer in the rescue effort.
