Redwings Horse Sanctuary shared a video showing two ponies, Dennis and Merry, reacting distressingly to a nearby fireworks display, aiming to highlight the negative impact loud fireworks have on horses and other animals. The ponies’ caretaker, student vet nurse Kristi, expressed her hope that the footage would encourage people to reconsider setting off fireworks near animals due to the distress it causes.

In response to these concerns, Redwings has launched a petition urging the government to lower the maximum permitted noise level of fireworks from 120 to 90 decibels. The petition has gained significant support, with over 160,000 signatures, including more than 60,000 collected in the past week.
