Plans have been submitted to build a new 196ft by 131ft horse riding arena, or “equine ménage,” at Eastgate House Farm near Scarborough. The arena would complement an existing one on the site and be used for horse exercise, jump practice, and small-scale events. The proposal has garnered support from local residents who highlight its benefits for grassroots equestrian sport and the mental health of the rural community.
No objections have been raised by relevant authorities including North Yorkshire Council’s environmental protection team, the ecologist, the Highway Authority, or Seamer Parish Council. Supporters emphasize the arena‘s value as a unique all-weather facility within an hour’s drive of Scarborough. A decision date on the application has yet to be announced.
