Piebald Horse Impounded in Portlaoise by Laois County Council Awaiting Rehoming

A piebald male horse was impounded by Laois County Council in Portlaoise after being collected from Ballymacken Lane on December 3. The horse remains unclaimed as of December 7 and will be available for rehoming or disposal if not reclaimed by December 9, in accordance with the council’s Control of Horses Bye-Laws. These regulations allow for impounding horses that are stray, causing nuisance, not under control, or kept without proper licensing or identification.

Owners wishing to reclaim the horse must provide an animal passport, an equine registration number for the land where the horse will be kept, and pay all associated fees. The law mandates that all horses, ponies, and donkeys in the Republic of Ireland have a passport, ensuring proper identification and control.
