Phillip Dutton Leads Day One Dressage at Morven Park Fall International CCI

At the US Equestrian Open of Eventing Final at Morven Park’s Fall International CCI, Phillip Dutton leads after day one of dressage with a score of 27.9 aboard Denim, marking one of the horse’s best 4* scores this season. Dutton credits ongoing coaching from Bettina Hoy, Silva Martin, Leslie Law, and Karyn Shuter for improvements, especially in ringcraft and canter work. Despite some tension in previous outings, Denim performed well amid the event’s atmosphere, with Dutton optimistic about their chances alongside his other mount, Possante.

Close behind in second is Elisa Wallace with Lissavorra Quality, a promising 10-year-old Irish mare showing strong potential for future 5* competition despite some score variability among judges. Third place goes to Ryan Wood and Cooley Flight, who recently returned from injury and is being carefully prepared for upcoming championships. Other notable competitors include Sophia Middlebrook and Prontissimo in fourth, and Will Coleman with Very Dignified in fifth, both focusing on refining dressage and building strength. The competition continues with cross country and show jumping phases, with live coverage available on USEF Network and ClipMyHorse.TV.
