PHA Allegedly Issues Tenders for Event Management Category in Horse and Cattle Show: Controversy Arises

The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) in Lahore has allegedly issued tenders for event management for the upcoming Horse and Cattle Show, restricting participation to only prequalified companies. This move has raised concerns about transparency and fairness in the selection process, as many event management companies are being excluded from the opportunity to bid for the event.

The PHA issued tenders for event management services for the Horse and Cattle Show on December 6, 2024, limiting participation to companies prequalified by the Director General Public Relation Department in the Event Management Category. This decision goes against a notification issued by the Provincial Secretary Information and Culture allowing open tenders for event management categories. The move has prompted complaints from private event management companies who feel they are being unfairly excluded from the bidding process.

The Secretary Information confirmed that the exclusion of event management from the list of prequalified categories was a mistake, and that any government department applying this rule is in the wrong. Despite attempts to contact PHA officials for clarification, there has been no response. The decision to restrict participation in the tender process has sparked concerns about transparency and fairness in the selection of a vendor for the Horse and Cattle Show event.
