The Perry County University of Missouri Extension is launching a new 4-H Horse Knowledge Club for youth ages 8 to 18, starting January 16 in Perryville. The club welcomes participants of all experience levels, including those who do not own horses, and focuses on teaching horse-related knowledge while fostering teamwork, fairness, and sportsmanship through friendly competition. Meetings will be held on Fridays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. through February 20 at the Perry County Extension Center.
Participants will have the chance to compete in the State 4-H Horse Judging Contest on February 28 and the State Horse Bowl Contest on March 1. The program is led by 4-H volunteer Mo Patterson, with limited class size. There is no fee for enrolled 4-H members, while non-members can join for a $25 enrollment fee, with scholarships available. Interested youth can contact Dianna Koenig for enrollment and more information.
