Pennsylvania 4-H Teams Excel at All-American Quarter Horse Congress Contests

Members of Pennsylvania 4-H recently competed and placed in various contests at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress, the world’s largest single-breed horse show held at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus. The event featured competitions in presentations, hippology, horse bowl, and horse judging for 4-H, FFA, and collegiate participants. Notable achievements included the Berks County Hippology team placing second in the judging phase, the Pennsylvania 4-H Team 2 earning seventh place overall in horse judging, and Adrian Davis winning the presentation contest with a perfect score for her talk on colic in horses.

These contests aim to develop youth knowledge and skills in equine science, helping them apply what they learn to their interests and beyond, according to Penn State Extension 4-H animal science specialist Kirsten Dubbs. Financial support for travel and registration is provided by the Pennsylvania Livestock Association and the Pennsylvania 4-H Horse Program development committee. Administered by Penn State Extension, 4-H is a USDA youth-development program fostering capable and contributing citizens. More information is available on the Pennsylvania 4-H website.
