Holly House, a respite centre in Pembrokeshire supporting children and young people with disabilities, has been rated ‘excellent’ in all areas by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW). This top rating for wellbeing, care and support, environment, and leadership and management marks a significant turnaround from its previous status as a service of concern. CIW attributed the improvement to strong leadership focused on children’s safety and wellbeing, highlighting the centre’s commitment to continuous improvement and robust oversight that has led to positive outcomes for the children.
The inspection report praised the centre for promoting choice, independence, and involvement in care decisions, as well as fostering strong relationships with families. Feedback from families was overwhelmingly positive, with all survey respondents rating care and support as excellent. Pembrokeshire County Council and local officials commended the dedication of the Holly House team, emphasizing the vital role the service plays in supporting young people and providing essential respite for families.
