Pemble Family Donation to Fund Major Upgrades at Liberty Mountain Equestrian Center

The Liberty Mountain Equestrian Center (LMEC) at Liberty University is set for significant upgrades thanks to a generous donation from the Pemble family. The gift will fund the construction of a 3,040-square-foot A-frame extension to the main barn, transforming it into a climate-controlled welcome center with a rustic, lodge-inspired design featuring timber beams, hardwood floors, a stone fireplace, and trophy display cabinets. This renovation aims to better accommodate visitors, recruits, and sponsors while reflecting the program’s growth and elevating LMEC to one of Virginia’s premier riding facilities. Construction is slated to begin in early 2027 and finish by fall.

In addition to the facility enhancements, the donation establishes the Pemble Equestrian Scholarship fund to provide financial aid to student-riders, supporting Liberty’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. The gift also helps fund mission trips and future program needs, ensuring a lasting legacy for the equestrian team. Since its founding in 2011, LMEC has expanded significantly and hosts major Intercollegiate Horse Show Association events, with the upgrades expected to further boost its national recognition and community impact.
