An equine expert from Clemson University’s Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine (PCVM), in collaboration with South Carolina 4-H Livestock and Equine Programs, participated in the Summer SaddleUp clinic held June 19–22 at T. Ed Garrison arena. This multi-day event offered clinics for riders of all ages and skill levels, focusing on improving riding techniques and horsemanship in a safe, educational environment. The program aims to meet the growing demand for equine education and support in the region by providing opportunities for networking, skill development, and access to industry resources.
Vicki Weber, PCVM’s director of teaching operations, and Leona Parr Ransdell, 4-H Youth Development Equine Program leader, led sessions on equine safety, health, and anatomy, emphasizing trailering safety, first aid, and youth involvement in 4-H programs. Their collaboration highlighted the strong partnership between PCVM and 4-H, showcasing unique educational opportunities for youth and fostering community connections among horse enthusiasts. The event underscored the importance of preparedness, education, and mentorship in supporting both novice and experienced equestrians.
