Paso Finos are smaller, fine-boned, sure-footed, and agile, capable of quick turns, making them excellent for trail riding and show competitions. Minnesota resident Chuck Hauser, a longtime Paso Fino enthusiast and PFHA director, praises the breed for its smooth ride, intelligence, and spirited nature, likening their trainability to that of dogs. Hauser highlights their suitability for older riders or those with health concerns due to the gentle ride, and shares experiences of long trail rides and mountain crossings. The Paso Fino gained popularity in the U.S. in the mid-20th century, with the Paso Fino Horse Association established in 1972 to register and promote the breed.
