A Palm Beach County man, James Marinakis, was arrested following the discovery of ten horses in poor condition near Boca Raton. After a complaint was received, detectives executed search warrants and found several horses malnourished, injured, and living in unsanitary stalls. Eight horses were taken for emergency veterinary care, revealing issues such as untreated injuries, dehydration, dental disease, and severe neglect.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the horses’ conditions were due to long-term neglect. Marinakis faces felony charges including unlawful abandonment or confinement of an animal and aggravated animal cruelty.
